Love it or Change it…One more weekend without a kitchen,
maybe?
It was supposed to rain today, but actually cleared up to be a pretty nice, sunny day. Unfortunately Delilah is still solidly trapped by the oven, so no wind in my jeans and sun on my face from her seat today. Also, no putting our kitchen together this weekend, but we can do other SD stuff in prep for next week. Need to get a couple of ceiling fans, return another ceiling fan and extra plumbing part, go to the Harley store (ok, that’s not for the house), and clean the fridge for it’s return to the kitchen on Tuesday.
By this evening the kitchen has really started to take shape — we love the openness and light our new space provides!
By this time next week, this blog may be coming to an end, Lord I hope so!
Friday morning dawned a rainy day, so we slept in a little
longer instead of going for our full walk and luxuriated in the thought of
using the new master shower. The night before I had moved all of our bathroom
supplies back into the master bath from the guest bath, towels, hair stuff, and
soaps, we were ready…flick on the faucets…wait for the hot water to flow out of
the shiny, new chrome…maybe because it hasn’t been run for a while…wait a
little more…it’s getting warm, isn’t it?...well, we can’t wait all day…OMG…it’s
f@#&ing FREEZING…WTF?...it got less than lukewarm at best. Make the best of
it, hold your breath, dive in, dive out, splash splash, clean what we have to
and GET OUT! T was much braver than I, but not very happy. My first text that
morning was to the GC to see if it was something with the install that needed
to be adjusted.
We decided we would actually stay home for the weekend, in
case the kitchen would be to a point that we could start putting our things
back away. Maybe I could even sneak in a ride while T works on her weekly
assignment.
When we arrived home from work the cabinet builder was still hard
at it at 6:40pm. He was stressing to get the cabinet openings ready for the
appliances, the promise of their install early next week allayed any concerns
that our Friday night was interrupted with their presence. So while they
finished up we went to get water and some FroYo (dinner). Lovely cabinet guy
said he’d return around noon on Saturday to finish up the oven opening, and asked would it be ok to leave all his tools in the garage one more night. That’s
ok, we can manage around him.
Saturday morning we slept in until 9!!!! Unbelievable, even
the kids were ok with that, which is amazing, usually the cats freak out
Saturday mornings thinking we’ve slept in and will be late for work, or more
likely that their breakfast has been delayed, but this morning they actually
left us alone and stayed quiet until we made the decision to get up. Went for
our usual walk, very fresh morning after receiving some much needed rain
through the night, and as we were about a quarter mile from home I saw a white
van. I wondered aloud if that van was heading to our house, but no it couldn’t
be, he wasn’t coming back until noon, right? We came down the street and
realized the van was at our house —
shoot, hope the cats didn’t get out! Nope, all good.
